Astronomy sometimes feels like it's people to be seduced by it's amazing, super amazing, it is.  Let's assume that errors can and have been made.  A skeptical mind is important even when dealing with the thrill of cosmic stuff.  We have a white dwarf, a neutron star and a black hole.  Lets say that is all we know.  Erase the chalk board of years and start over.  It might be worth the try.
