Workohilism is definitely an escape from reality for many people It is the ultimate socially acceptable blindfold. When the background noise of the world gets too loud or the structural cracks become too terrifying to look at head-on, throwing yourself entirely into work offers a neat, productive way to escape. It gives you a built-in excuse: I am too busy, too focused, too ambitious to deal with the mess. It transforms anxiety into a to-do list and existential dread into a quarterly goal. You get to feel virtuous for being exhausted, while successfully keeping reality at arm's length.

I don't think people realize how close we have come to totally fucking everything up. And we get that our voice means so much, I do sometimes, I want validation, I can be lame.

If I suggest you need to be goody two shoes, that is not what I mean. I mean don't fall asleep at the wheel.

I see my work as some what healing, much in the way that bleeding was once used. I say something cutting and it hurts a bit, but the toxins then pour out.

I believe that some of the Anti-Israel and other such protests is about our decline in social glue, or contract. People are not doing much but throwing off the chains of having to be well mannered and do the golden rule.
