To Tariff or not to Tariff? That is the question!

Bill Hole became very sweaty, his heart palpitating because one of them..was his true love!!!

Luck or not? Ever since President Donald Trump introduced his first round of new tariffs, it’s been a waiting game to see just how much they’ll impact the global economy. This week, one of the earliest signs was revealed — and it wasn’t pretty. South Korea’s Customs Service reported that exports for the first 20 days of April declined by 5.2% compared to the same period last year. That singular data point is a “key bellwether” for where trade is heading, Min Joo Kang, a senior economist at ING, said in a note on Monday. Nursing Jobs up to $96/hr job.incrediblehealth.com Nursing Jobs up to $96/hr Ad The decline in exports came after Trump enacted a 25% tariff on all aluminum, steel and auto imports. All other South Korean imports were also briefly subject to a 25% “reciprocal” tariff before Trump delayed it until July. Instead, imports from there are subject to a nearly universal 10% tariff. That was evident in the data, which showed that car and steel shipments fell 6.5% and 8.7%, respectively, year over year for the first 20 days of April. Overall exports from South Korea to the US declined by 14.3% from last year. The bright spot was semiconductor exports, which rose 10.2% compared to last April. Semiconductors remain exempt from US tariffs, but Trump has said he aims to implement tariffs as high as 25% on the product. For now, the South Korean data suggests that “US tariffs are complicating global trade dynamics,” Kang said. It is, however, “reasonable to attribute part of the export decline to the Trump-related disruptions in trade,” he told CNN. But those changes might not show up as fast because it can take a while for new tariffs to manifest in trade data, he added. Nevertheless, the International Monetary Fund is warning global economic growth will slow to 2.8% this year from the 3.3% rate it predicted last year, according to new forecasts released Tuesday. The slowdown expected in the United States was even steeper, with its economy likely to grow only 1.8%, compared with a 2.8% expansion in 2024. The IMF cited “trade tensions and extremely high levels of policy uncertainty” as reasons for the downward revisions. Forthcoming trade data likely won’t be cut and dry The chaos that’s ensued from Trump’s on-and-off tariffs makes it increasingly hard to draw firm conclusions from forthcoming trade data. Another major factor at play is the overarching uncertainty from Trump’s trade policies. For instance, the president recently claimed he’s negotiating deals with other nations, which he said could be finalized in a matter of weeks. At the same time, he’s also threatened new tariffs. That uncertainty could be causing businesses to pause international orders altogether. That means some countries’ exports could decline, said Branstetter. For instance, one toy company CNN spoke with earlier this month said it stopped ordering goods from China over fears tariffs will continue to rise. The trade picture for South Korea and the US could change, however, if talks between the two nations are sucessful. South Korean Finance Minister Choi Sang-mok and Trade Minister Ahn Duk-geun are set to meet with US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and US Trade Representative Jamieson Greer on Thursday. The Trump administration has said it wants to prioritize trade deals with allies like South Korea. For more CNN news and newsletters create an account at CNN.com

When some guy complained how effective I am at fighting Antisemitism, I decided to take that as a compliment, and will continue to defend and protect.

YEA!!! FOX News ADL chief says federal action against antisemitism on college campuses is 'long overdue' Anti-Defamation League (ADL) CEO Jonathan Greenblatt said efforts by the federal government to address the "catastrophe" of antisemitism plaguing college campuses are "long overdue" but warned that the Trump administration risks overreach. "Antisemitism is a crisis, it’s a catastrophe that has not gotten nearly enough attention from the very institutions where it’s happening. For too long [colleges and universities] have failed to deal with this issue in a strategic and systematic way," Greenblatt told CNN "Inside Politics" host Dana Bash Tuesday. Cost cut up to 50% - No Hidden Fees, No Surprises bolddesk.com Cost cut up to 50% - No Hidden Fees, No Surprises Ad The ADL issued a report Tuesday that found that antisemitic incidents in the United States were at their highest since they began keeping track in 1979. The report found that there were 9,354 antisemitic incidents in 2024, up 5% from the previous year. Greenblatt attributed the rise to the trend of increasing antisemitism following Hamas’ barbaric Oct. 7 terrorist attacks in 2023. The report found 196 assaults, 2,606 incidents of vandalism, and 6,552 incidents of harassment against Jews in 2024. It was the fourth year in a row where antisemitic incidents in the United States broke the previous years’ records.

Numbers like these are shocking indeed: There were 638 incidents of assault, harassment or vandalism reported in the New England region, which covers Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont. That’s up from 623 in 2023 and a 213% increase since 2022, according to ADL New England. Massachusetts saw 6.14 incidents per 100,000 residents in 2024, the fourth highest in the country. The report states that incidents at colleges and universities are up more than any other type of location and points to actions taken at anti-Israel protests as a source of concern. Massachusetts ranked third nationally for incidents reported on college campuses, with 107 reports, 89% of which were related to Israel. Reports of antisemitism at local universities and others across the country have captured the focus of the Trump administration, with the Department of Education launching an investigation at more than 60 schools. The action has set off a public clash with Harvard University, which has pushed back on the federal government’s demands to make changes to policy and is now suing over the freezing of billions in federal funding. Another report: In 2024, Massachusetts reported: 438 total incidents 257 of them were Israel/Zionism related There were 157 acts of vandalism 132 verbal/or written harassment or threats 115 included a gathering, picketing, or meeting 107 of these incidents happened on college campuses

This evening and tomorrow, Yom Hashoah - Holocaust Remembrance Day, we pause to honor the memories of the six million Jews murdered in the Holocaust. We commit to ensuring that the lessons of the past are never forgotten, so that history will never be repeated.

Yom HaShoah, also known as Holocaust Remembrance Day, is a day of remembrance for the six million Jews who were murdered during the Holocaust. It is observed annually, typically in late April or early May, marking the 27th of Nisan in the Hebrew calendar. The day is a time for reflection, remembrance, and honoring the lives of those who perished and the courage of those who survived. Make a difference, don't be a hater. Marty Morantz 🇨🇦 @marty_morantz · 1m Today is Yom HaShoah - a day where people in Canada and around the world stop and reflect upon the horror of the Holocaust. On Yom HaShoah, Conservatives join hands with the Jewish community with a commitment to our pledge - Never again. Today, our commitment to this pledge has never been more important. The attacks on Jewish communities keep happening, even here, in Canada. The unacceptable resurgence of antisemitism has revealed that the evil that led to the Holocaust has not yet been defeated. As we remember the victims, we vow not to let their memories be in vain. Never Again

6,001,200 Jews is enough! Yom HaShoah honors the community members we lost in the Holocaust. Today, we also remember the victims of October 7th—the deadliest attack on Jews since then. May this day stand as a testament to our enduring memory and resilience. Am Yisrael Chai.
