MSNBC, meanwhile, functions as a therapy session for deranged partisans who think every problem in their lives is caused by people they disagree with politically. Their ratings are in free fall, their influence is evaporating, and their answer to this crisis is to double down on the very ideological nonsense that drove their audience away in the first place. Yet even by their pitiful standards, CNN’s decision to keep Kaitlan Collins as their chief White House correspondent after she publicly promoted a legal defense fund for an accused assassin is an astonishing level of depravity. @kaitlancollins , who is supposed to be reporting on the most powerful office in the world, thought it appropriate to share a fundraiser for Luigi Mangione, the man charged with murdering @UHC CEO Brian Thompson in what has been classified as an act of terrorism. This was not a momentary lapse in judgment or a retweet gone wrong, it was a deliberate endorsement that she only retracted when the outrage became impossible to ignore. The question every sane person should be asking is: why does CNN believe someone who lent even a whisper of support to an accused assassin deserves a press pass to the White House? If a reporter from any outlet not aligned with the progressive orthodoxy had done the same, the media outrage machine would have demanded their exile from journalism altogether. Collins’ actions, and CNN’s silence in response, are a perfect illustration of the moral and intellectual rot at the heart of modern mainstream media. The same people who claim to be the arbiters of truth and justice are the first to excuse or ignore appalling behavior when it comes from within their ideological ranks. It is why these networks are on life support, sustained only by airport TVs and people too lazy to change the channel. They are not interested in reporting the news. They are interested in controlling the narrative, selectively applying outrage, and protecting their own. The woke movement, which has infected every facet of their coverage, demands ideological purity over consistency, activism over journalism, and moral relativism over truth. No wonder people are tuning out in record numbers. Why watch a news network that no longer even pretends to care about reality?
